"Buliding Teaching Skills Through the Interactive Web" Week 3

Hello everyone,

This is my 3rd reflection. In this week I have been involved with interesting tasks such as nicenet discussion - Aural/Oral Skill Building, Read a Sample Final Project and creating delicious page.
I like very much Delicious page because it is really new for me and then I can easily look for needed information or material.

As for Aural/Oral Skill Building I like very much Lindsay Miller's opinion and the title is "Developing Listening Skills with Authentic Materials". In this article she wrote about how to develop listening skills effectively and advised to use authentic texts. As for recommendation I recommended http://www.bbc.co.uk  http://www.bbc.co.uk/skillswise/topic-group/speaking-and-listening. I find it is very useful for all levels and can enhance students' listening skills.

In the final project I had to look at the sample project reports on the course website and read one example final project report.
read Tendouinde Bruno Nikiema's description, he is from American Language Center, Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. His main purpose from the project was to find out "Using new technological tools to activate the students in reading and writing,
to make them more active in communicating and sharing opinion promoting their interest and motivation"
I really like this project because it was for students’ benefit.

Every week I am learning something new. So, for this I thank Donna Shaw, Oregon University and my colleagues around the world.

"Building Teaching Skills Through the Interactive Web" Week 2

Hello everyone,

This is my second week. I am very glad to post you about my next step. In this week we got 3 main tasks on www.nicenet.com :  Websearching,  ABCD ObjectivesProject Task #1: Describing a Class.
Websearching- The first task was really new and interesting for me. Because, before I did not know that there are more than 150 websites concern to education on the internet. However, from the suggested site “www.noodletools.com ” I have found very essential and tangible search engines for the Best Search for My Information Needs. I used to use www.google.com but now I can recommend several extremely informative and incredibly good search engines such as Bing ,Ask.com, Google Real-Time, Times Topics, Google.scholar. All are focused on academic purpose.

ABCD Objectives- Moreover, I have been familiar with ABCD model Objectives. That was really the great thing that I did in this week. I found that objectives should identify a learning outcome, should be consistent with course goals and should be precise.
There are 4 parts of ABCB Objectives:

1.     Audience (A) – Who are your learners?
2.     Behavior (B) – What do you expect them to be able to do? This should be an overt, observable behavior, even if the actual behavior is covert or mental in nature.
3.     Condition (C) – How? Under what circumstances or context will the learning occur? What will the student be given or already be expected to know to accomplish the learning?
4.     Degree (D) – How much will be accomplished, how well will the behavior need to be performed, and to what level? Do you want total mastery (100%), do you want them to respond correctly 80% of the time, etc.

I consider, this model is very clear and nice; thus we can easily identify our goal through the detailed, observable and measurable ABCD objective. Meanwhile, I am going to use this method for my class.

As for Project Task #1: Describing a Class, in this task we had to think about a class that would benefit from making a technology-inspired change. As it was asked I wrote about my class, my students’ ages and their technology devices which they bring in every lesson. Accordingly, I am very sure that my classes will profit from a new technology tool; therefore, it is beneficial and can motivate students to study hard.

Although, it has only been two weeks, day by day I am getting great impression. Each task absorbs me with its well-organized and glorified assignment. Hence, it elicits my students success. I think myself, as a successful girl, because I am a member of this course! Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge with me.

Best wishes

"Building Teaching Skills Through the Interactive Web" Week 1

Hello everyone !

I am very pleased to be a member of the course “Building Teaching Skills Through the Interactive Web”. It is really wonderful to share our knowledge with well-experienced specialists. This is my first online course I have ever had.

I am a new teacher at Uzbekistan State University of World Languages and this is my first Academic year.

As I am a teacher I really like teaching. I admire teaching because I love seeing students understand something new and I enjoy teaching because this job encourages my own growth since, to do it well requires my own continuous education. I am fond of teaching because, I want to be among students and help them. I prefer teaching because, I adore this quote “In learning you will teach, and in teaching you will learn.” Whatever my belief is, a good teacher continues to be a student.

Moreover, I assure this will not be my first global education. Since, I found tasks and assignments are acclaimed and professionally organized and could engross me. Also, the ground rules and rubrics are very fair and clear. This week I have been involved with Self Introduction, filling out Assessment survey, and I have joined the Class Discussion, read Donna’s and other participants’ posts. Besides, I have created my first blog.

Frankly saying, blogging was a little bit difficult for me. Nonetheless, I am eager to know what I do not know. Thus, I did it. Accordingly, in future I will teach my students how to create their blogs. And I see, having a blog is much more better than having an email. Because, through the blog we can create our own Interactive Online Classes therefore, we will turn from Traditional Method to Modern.

Even, it was just a week I got great impression from the course. So, I thank Oregon University and our amiable instructor Donna Shaw. Also, I thank all my friends around the world.Thank you for sharing your experiences and thoughts.
