"Building Teaching Skills Through the Interactive Web" Week 5

Hello everyone.

This is my subsequent post for our online course. This week was very interesting and incredibly essential for all of us.
First of all, we had a guest on our nicenet discussion. Her name is Kelley Pierce. She works at the University of Oregon, American English Institute. And we I have discussed with her about project-based learning (PBL) and WebQuests , and how can rubrics, alternative assessment and project based learning encourage our students to become more autonomous learners. I read her and my colleagues ideas and I find that all the given instructions are useful for both students and teacher. Then I gave my own opinion in this matter.
As for the next task on nicenet discussion we had Project task. Here we described a problem that we would like to solve with the help of technology tool. As I mentioned on the nicenet discussion I have problem in my writing class. Time is limited and we cannot share or opinions. So, with the help of  109 B Writing Class Blog we solve this problem.
The third task was very interesting I like it very much. It was Extra credit card, here we created our WebQuest. On each our WebQuest page we uploaded materials which we are going to teach our students.
I consider, that our colleague Wadha’s WebQuest is in the first place. It is exceedingly good and quite essential. Hence, I have to mention that his WebQuest can motivate not only students, but also teachers as well.

Next, we worked on the rubrics. We made our rubrics and upload itto the rubrics page. Furthermore, rubric makes students self sufficient, autonomous learners, as well as it can provide guidance to teachers on possible assessment categories.

All the given tasks are very necessary for all of us thus, I am very satisfied with them.

Best regards,

  1. Hello Madina,

I also want to welcome Kelley.
This week was full of new tasks and readings which enriched us. I like your rubrics on story writing, and which appeals to me your grading system. We have the same grading system - up to 100%.
Your webquest page is amazing with video, new words, filling in the blanks exercises and I love ironical O'Henry.

You will agree with me it is worth searching, doing and teaching through webquest.
